Hi, Just came across this site I attended Ashton Vale School in 1956-58, also my 2 sons followed me1982 and 1990,before we emigrated to Australia.It was a great school then with some good and caring teachers. I did not think that when I attended but hindsight is a wonderfull thing, Miss Fergusion the head mistress was not someone you want to get on the wrong side of. It's nice to see that some thing have not changed and that this school at least still has caring and dedicated staff, keep up the good work.

Hi everyone! Have thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's fabulous comments. It's fantastic to hear that so many current and ex-pupils are doing so well.
I'm still teaching in Leicestershire, and enjoying it thoroughly. About to take the next tentative steps to become a deputy head.

My own children are all growing up so fast. Finn, my eldest has just finished his first year at school, and the twins are about to celebrate their 3rd birthday.

I will always have fond memories of Ashton Vale, and will now make more effort to keep in touch, now that the website is live and updated.

Hey hey hey its mint here at Ashton Vale if You don't go you're silly. I'm in the year 6 class and my teacher is very nice and welcoming she is very good at teaching me and my mates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am injoying yr 4 class with miss kilb she does good lessons and plans activites for us to do in lessons.P.E is one of the best subjects because we are allowed to get the apperatus out .from Hannah Farr

I am in Ashton Vale Primary still in year4 and all my teachers have been brilliant and Mrs Champeny is kind aswell if i ever have a problem with some mates I know i can tell her.Mrs Kent Jones is funny and kind she gives good homework.Mr Owen does choir with me and country dancing. school is the best!!!!!!!

Wow, my old primary school!
I loved Ashton Vale so much, it was such a nice school. It's funny seeing pictures of all my old teachers- I remember Mr. Owen, he was my teacher in year 5 I think. I can remember Mrs. Kent-Jones obviously, she was my teacher when I first joined the school in year 2. I think I had Mrs. Cross one year too. I can still remember Mrs. Phillis too. I wonder how she is? Oh and of course Ms. Champeney too. They were all nice.

I doubt any of the teachers will remember me now though, it's been a while. I leave school next year.

Well thank you Ashton Vale for putting up with me for four years!

Hey just want to say something to the new year 6 when you think about being in year 7 you might think

well I got 1 major mate from Ashton Vale and 2 major mates from Southville and St Mary Recliffe called Jamie and Georgia and you wont get lost promise its so easy to find your way round and the teachers aint that bad lol in a bit deanna

I have just read the comments on this site and browsed through which has been very nice. Hope everyone is well, if any of the staff are still in touch with Mr Turner would you let him know that Jessica Perry and I are both doing fairly well :P in our final year of compulsory schooling taking our GCSE's and hoping to go to Sixth form in the coming year. Mrs Cross, you may like to know that Kerry is at Exeter University, studying sports science and doing very well.

There are many things that I will never forget about Ashton Vale and performing Grease is one, it was a great leavers show and I wish the current leavers every success in their performance of Oliver.

I like this school because we all learn well and get on well and the teachers are really nice to meet and our netball team is doing very good because even I play for the team. We have won all of our matchs and we are top of the league . You should come to this school we have got really fantastice teachers that is very nice . Mrs wigginton is my yr 5 and 6 teacher and she is my best teacher since I been to this school and I started in yr 4 and all up in til this yr i've had a realy good time because evreyone gets on well and plays nicely .

I have just been browsing the website and am very pleased to see that the school has been chosen as a Read a Million Words champion school. I don't know if anyone will still remember me but I volunteered with Dave Turner for 2 years running from around 1998 to 2000. I am hopefully just about to become a school governor in South Bristol and thought I would check out what you were up to and found you had this excellent website. I am really impressed. I am so pleased that everything is going ok. My time volunteering with you ,was the best few years of my life and I really really enjoyed it. Just to let you know I now work for Bristol City Council and have been with them now for 3 years, within Neighbourhood & Housing Services. What a brilliant week. Well done everyone who was involved in the music concert, I really enjoyed all the performances, what talented children we have.

We have had a fabulous Book Week, so many exciting activities.

I really enjoyed the singing at the community centre on Thursday 16th December. The choir were wonderful, thank you Mr Owen and the choir for giving us such a treat.

Congratulations to all for a wonderful Christmas concert this year. Many thanks to all the staff and parents who helped and of course many thanks to the children for giving us such a treat.

What a busy week. I am very pleased with all the hard work put in by the children in their SATs and VATs. You all deserve a relaxing weekend.

Brilliant news from the year 3/4 netball. They won their tournament on the 26th March. Also the year 5/6 team won their final match of the season.
All the children playing were a credit to the school.

Many thanks to Mrs Kent Jones for organising a wonderful music concert on Tuesday 30th March.
Well done to all those children who performed and also to the children who introduced the items and who organised the CD player.
The concert was greatly enjoyed by all and raised £106.

Many thanks to Mrs Bale for a wonderful Book Week. The theme of drama has been really exciting and the children have really learnt a lot as well as having had great fun.
Thanks to all the staff for sharing their many talents this week.

Well done to the year 3/4 netball teams on Friday 12th March. You represented the school well and showed yourselves to be good sports.

Also well done to the year 5/6 netball team for their performance in the match on Tuesday 9th March. It was really exciting and you showed some brilliant skills. I am very proud of you all.

Hello everyone at Ashton Vale primary school i just want to thank Mrs Tonkin for taking us to the Vic rooms . I also want to say thankyou to Mrs Wigginton for your lovley teaching and let's just hope i do well in my sat's!

Well done to the Ashton Vale Dance Club and Mrs Tonkin for their brilliant performance in the 'Stages' dance celebration at the Victoria Rooms last month. We are all very proud of your achievements.
